Manchester United is in crisis. For this who is to blame?
Mancheste United once the biggest club in English football , has found themselves in one of the worst crises of its modern era. A club that once was succesful under Sir Alex Ferguson is now struggling with instability both on snd off the pitch. The issues are deep-rooted with ownership, management, recruitment, players are to be blame.https://www.google.com/
To tell you the truth this situation stsrted only after Glazer family took control of the club in 2005 through a controversial buyout. As soon as they became the owner, they started running the club as a business entity rather then football for which the club is known.
After they became the owner of thic club they have created huge debt, questionable decision making and mostly focus on commercial growth rather then their mainstay which is football.
While Manchester United remains one of the richest clubs in the world the imbalance between footballing performence and financial success has left fans frustrated. The supporter of Manchester United are protesting regulerly against the Glazer family with no effect at all.
Since Sir Alex retirement in 2013 the club has lacked continuity and identity on the fooyballing side.. Since 2013 Manchester United signed seven managers namely -David Moyes,Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,Ralf Rangnick,Erik Ten Hag and now Ruben Amorim-have all of them failed to restore the pride of the club. All the seven managers implemented their philosophy, different style that failed totaly. They signed expensive players such as Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho,Antony and Rasmus Hojlund, all of them have failed to deliver.
The result on the pitch has been extremely poor.Manchester United’s defense has become frajile, while attack often lacks creativity and cohesion. Those high profile players often failed to deliver, with injuries to some players have worsened the problems. Mean while it’s not that United have not won anything, they have won 2017 Europa League and Domestic cup, but the main thing which is Premier League,, they have not won it since 2013.
From the last couple of years we hear that the culture of dressing room also changed.. There was stories about poor discipline, ego clash between players, and a lack of leadership have also plagued the team. We have also seen several star players clashed with managers, lack of commitment ,some not playing for managers with that managers lose their authority, players lose motivation, all these things caused spiral downword.
In 2022 when Erik Ten Hag came with a reputation ofor discipline and tactical knowhow initially brought some hope. That year Uniter finished third in the Premier League and also lifted Carabao Cup,showing signs of progress. However a series of poor results, some humiliating defeats and his handling of players like Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo have cast doubts whether he will be able to rebuild the club.
In 2024 the owner of Manchester United, the Glazers family decided to sell a part of the club, here comes British Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he bought the football operations. With these changes of football operations everybody thought that from now on the club is on there way up.
When Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought the club everyone thought now onwards the performance will go up, but running a chemical company and running a football club that also a club like Manchester United is not same. When he bought Nice he promised to do many things but failed to do any improvement. Sir Jim Ratcliffe may have earned a fortune out of his chemical business, but running a football club is totally different proposition.
The biggest issue remains the Identity. They should compete for the Premier League title. They should be in the Champions League. But nowadays no teamm fear them, each team knows that Man United can be beaten. Last year again a new coach arrived in the name of Ruben Amorim from Portugal. Till today he has become the worst coach in the history of Manchester United.
At last one things are sure there is not a single problem about Man Utd, it’s a combination of poor ownership, poor selection of manager, week recruitment, poor management, and a loss of identity. So until they take a long term vision, rebuilds their squad properly, and take necessary steps to reconnects with its traditional values, it risks drifting further away from the elite level. The rebuilding process will take time, so have patience from both fans and management.
